If you could do anything and know you wouldn't fail, what would you do? Uproot to the inner hebrides, buy a tiny wooden hut and start a new life and business. That is exactly what Pi and Lynton did, the owners behind Bothan Jura Retreat, a very remote group of bothans (huts) to stay in for a break from the norm. With an inspiring back story and a desire to make this holiday getaway business feel more than just an average glamping style trip, working with Pi and Lynton felt like a journey in itself, as we worked closely to create something individual and meaningful. The positioning was around headspace and feeling like you could escape the everyday, if only for a few days and explore the wildness that Jura offered. We created a visual identity that represented the endless paths you could tread. The wilderness, the plot of land they originally bought and the original little hut, was carefully considered to create the logo. A contour map style pattern that also represents that life gets messy, and a colour palette that reflected the hut materials and elements around them. The concept was of constant contradiction, the contrast of the wild outdoors and the cosy nature of the bothans with snug blankets. As well as warm fires and hot tubs contrasted with cold plunges, all culminating in a tagline of 'A space of exhilarating calm'. Bothan Jura Retreat is more than a simple stay it keeps evolving with collaborations on the island with yoga practitioners, artists and a potential book club. All capturing the importance of community.
